Course Outline

It will cover four topics below in two sessions. Each session will be of 1.5 hours, composed of presentations on two topics, followed by a lab for students to do exercises.

    • Basics of R Programming

    • Data Exploration and Visualisation with R

    • Regression and Classification with R

    • Association Rule Mining with R

    • Twitter Data Analysis with R -- Text Mining and Social Network Analysis

Prerequisites

1. Software and Datasets

You will need to bring your own laptop for the lab. Please install the required software and packages and download datasets and slides before you come to the course.

2. Knowledge of Data Mining

You are expected to have basic understanding of data mining techniques below.

This is a training course for the University of Canberra on R programming, data exploration and visualisation, and data mining with R. Please install R, RStudio and R packages, and download datasets and slides (in PDF files) to your laptop prior to the short course. See prerequisites below for details.
